It’s the day Tottenham fans have long been dreading.
After a transfer saga which has dominated the narrative around the club over the past few years, striker Harry Kane has now completed his €100m (£86.4m) move to Bayern Munich.
Kane joined Spurs at 11 and departs at 30, 435 games and 280 goals later. Understandably, the news was hard to take for many.

Actually refreshing once to not see a fanbase turn on a player for leaving.
Harry Kane has put everything into Spurs and Levy has never backed the club to the standard he should have to make the most of that.
He’ll most likely get a couple of easy titles under his belt now.

He won’t go down as such but Harry Kane the greatest PL No.9 for me. Deserved the all time record. Nothing he couldn’t do. His performance away at City a few years back one of the all time great individual performances. Great role model for kids too. Hope he wins UCL at Bayern.

For fans of other Premier League rivals, however, Saturday was a day of celebration.
Kane had been one of the deadliest strikers in the division’s history, regularly tormenting clubs across the country with little regard for their feelings. To be away from the eternal fear of watching Kane punish their clubs came as a huge relief for many.

The move to Bayern comes with an obvious upside for Kane. The England captain is still in pursuit of the first trophy of his career and has now joined a team who have lost count of the number of times they’ve raised silverware.
Just the 33 Bundesliga titles for Bayern to go along with three Champions League wins this century. Not bad.

Perhaps the biggest surprise about this whole move is Kane’s decision to abandon his pursuit of Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goals record.
Shearer’s tally of 260 was inevitably set to be caught by Kane, who racked up 213 strikes of his own, but the former Newcastle United star’s honour stays safe for now.

Kane will still break Shearer’s record. Sport science has kicked on. Tom Brady and Ronaldo are his peers in his mind. 40 odd Prem league goals when he’s 34-36 won’t be a problem in my mind. People underestimating this kid his whole life.
