Reactions have continued to trail the return of Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, to the country with the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, saying the stakeholders are happy over the return of the governor, who has been out of the country for a three-month medical leave.
The governor who was out of the country for medical treatment in Germany, returned to the country on Thursday.
On landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Akeredolu was said to have moved straight to his personal residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he met with his cabinet members and members of the state House of Assembly.
The minister, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Alao Babatunde on Saturday, stated that the return of the governor was not only a testament to his strength, resilience, and will, which the majority admire him for, but also a proof of God’s faithfulness in his life.
He said, “The people of Ondo State, who have eagerly awaited the return of their beloved governor, are filled with joy and gratitude to have him back.
“His unwavering commitment to the well-being and progress of Ondo State has been an inspiration to us all, and we are pleased to see him (Akeredolu) back in good health.
“His leadership and dedication to the people of Ondo State are invaluable, and we look forward to the continued development and prosperity of the state under his guidance.
“As you (Akeredolu) formally resume duties, I pray our state witnesses more development under your watch,”
Meanwhile, Akeredolu on Friday, sent a letter to the state Assembly, officially informing it of his return and his formerly resuming duty immediately.
Akeredolu said, “I came back yesterday (Thursday) and as you know, it was a long journey. I decided that I must meet with you today (Friday). God has answered our prayers, and we give Him all the glory.
“I can assure you that our return is to the glory of God and the prayers of all of you here, and those who wished us well, I thank you very much. God has done what the majority of our people wanted. The majority of our people here knelt down and prayed for our return, and we have returned.
“So, because we had to land here in Ibadan first, I said I have to meet with House of Assembly members here. We are here, and we are back. I am back, and by the grace of God, I will be alive to complete my full tenure in office.
I want to tell you that I am back, and I will resume work immediately.”
The governor added, “We are now back, and we give God all the glory. I have to let members of the House of Assembly know first that we have returned. As of today, I’m back as Governor of Ondo State. We thank God that I am alive and here. It’s your prayers that have kept us here. The office of the Governor has resumed full work.”
