In February 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh found him guilty of eight out of twenty charges related to the Bangladesh Liberation War and handed down a death sentence.

He was accused of rape, burning, leaking information to the Pakistani Army, and stealing. The Supreme Court mitigated his sentence to life in prison in September 2014.

Delwar Hossain Sayeedi Death Cause And Obituary: Dies Of Heart Attack

On the morning of August 14, 2023, Delwar was admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital after experiencing chest problems.

Later that day, he passed away. Sayeedi was 83 years old at the time of his death. His family members will reveal his funeral and obituary details. Delwar Hossain Sayeedi death cause is a heart attack.

He has always been a topic of controversy among the people. Sukhranjan Bali, a prosecution witness who later testified as a defense witness, was allegedly kidnapped by the Bangladesh Police on November 5, 2012, outside the International Crimes Tribunal.

Human rights organizations thought it was an instance of forced disappearance. Later, the Border Security Force of India received control over Bali.

A spokeswoman for Human Rights Watch stated that “the apparent kidnapping of a witness in a trial at the ICT is cause for serious concern about the conduct of the prosecution, judges, and government.”

Bali was anticipated to refute claims made by the prosecution that Sayeedi participated in the 1971 murder of Bali’s brother.

Other Personal Details Related To Him

At the father-built madrassa in his hometown Hamlet, Sayeedi received his first religious education. Sayeedi attended the Khulna Alia Madrasah after the Sarsina Alia Madrasah in 1962.

Sayeedi is accused of committing murder, rape, and arson in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

Delwar Hossain Shikdar, who had been captured and put to death by freedom fighters after the war, was mistaken for him, according to his defense at the trial.

Some locals denied that he was involved, and critics point out that no DNA testing was done. His family asserts that he lived in Jessore’s New Market neighborhood at the time and was not in Pirojpur.

Sayedee and his family then left Jessore in search of protection and spent around two weeks in a friend’s home from around April 1, 1971.

The Sayedee family then sought refuge at Roushan Ali’s home in Mohiron, a village in Bagharpara, Jessore.

Delwar Hossain Sayeedi Controversy

Sayeedi was added to the No Fly List in 2004 by the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) of the United States of America, which was created to stop alleged radicals and terrorists from flying into the US.

Sayeedi visited the UK in July 2006 to speak at demonstrations in London and Luton; the foreign office approved of his entry.

He was controversially admitted to the country in the eyes of many British MPs. An advisor, Eric Taylor, said in emails that were later released and published by The Times that Sayeedi’s “previous visits to the UK have reportedly been marred by violence caused by his supporters.”

Who Speaks For Muslims?, a documentary by British journalist Martin Bright, was published on July 13, 2006.

Sayeedi was mentioned, and his extremist viewpoints were noted. Within the Bangladeshi population in Britain, Sayeedi is well-liked.

On July 14, 2006, he was invited to speak at the East London Mosque; Muhammad Abdul Bari, the Muslim Council of Britain’s secretary general at the time, backed the offer.
