One of the newest captains on “Deadliest Catch” Season 19 is Jack Bunnell, who’s in charge of the F/V Barbara J. Prior to this season, Bunnell participated briefly in “Deadliest Catch” as a deckhand on the F/V Saga. Since then he’s worked his way up to captaining his own vessel.
Training on the Saga throughout Season 19 is Sophia “Bob” Nielsen, who’s in line to inherit her family’s F/V Victory. Another notable crew member appearing for the first time is Jacob Hutchins, who Keith Colburn is training on the F/V Wizard to one day become in charge of a boat himself.
Linda Greenlaw is another new captain working on the F/V Summer Bay alongside series regular “Wild” Bill Wichrowski. The final captain debuting his vessel in this season is Rick Shelford, who leads the F/V Aleutian Lady. In total, then, Season 19 is a transitional time for “Deadliest Catch,” tracking both a major change in fishing conditions and the introduction of some notable up-and-comers on the Bering Sea.
